Support Services

There are many additional items that can be included when arranging a funeral for a loved one, please find below a list of a few examples. In addition we are happy to source and arrange anything not mentioned below, so please feel free to ask.

Newspaper announcements:

It is customary to place an announcement in a local or national newspaper. As a result, this serves two useful objectives.

  • One to make sure that anyone wishing to attend the service has all the information as to the day, time and place of the service and information regarding floral tributes and donations
  • Secondly, to reduce the chance of an embarrassing encounter with an uninformed friend or neighbour

If you would like to place an obituary or acknowledgement we can assist you with the wording and placing of the notice on your behalf.

Stationery/Printing:

We offer a large range of service sheets, or you can create your own with us. We offer books of remembrance and large printed photographs, if required. Finally, we provide pew cards to record those people who have attended the service.

Music:

At a funeral service music can help to reflect the character of the deceased as a reminder of their personality, taste and interests. Therefore, a personal favourite piece of music can be uplifting and helpful to you at the funeral. Please ask if you would like us to find a special piece of music. If for any reason a piece of music cannot be played by a crematorium or church, we have our own music system which can be used for this.

Floral Tributes:

Floral tributes are an important part of a funeral. We have an on-site florist which would be pleased to help you choose from a wide variety of different styles, individual designs and seasonal flowers to suit your own personal taste. If you have chosen an alternative florist, please ensure they know the day and time of the service so they can make sure any floral arrangements are delivered before the funeral procession begins.

Special requirements:

If you have any special requirement, providing it does not compromise the dignity of either the deceased or the occasion, we will do our utmost to supply it, so please don’t hesitate to enquire.
Previous requests include:

  • Horse drawn hearse (black or white horses)
  • Motorcycle hearse
  • Dove release
  • Standard bearers
  • Coffin drapes
  • Live choral singing groups
  • Live instrumentalists
  • Bagpipers (with or without accompanying drummers)
  • RAF fly-past

Staff/Bearers:

All necessary staff will be provided as part of our service to you prior to the funeral. On the day of the funeral sufficient bearers and attendants will be provided to assist with either cremation or burial depending on your choice of funeral. However, if family members would like to carry out the duty of bearer the coffin, this option will be spoken about with your funeral director.

Receptions after a funeral:

We can recommend various venues who are experienced in providing funeral buffets.

  • Local hotels, pubs and restaurants to accommodate large or small gatherings supplying hot or cold meals

Outside catering to host the funeral buffet at your own home or in a church/village hall etc.
