Our Services

Services we offer:

There are many things to think about when arranging a funeral for a loved one, here are a few examples for you to think about.

Newspaper announcement

It is customary to place an announcement in the local or national newspaper. This serves two useful objectives. One to make sure that anyone wishing to attend the service has all the information as to the day, time and place of the service and information regarding floral tributes and donations. And two to reduce the chance of an embarrassing encounter with an uninformed friend or neighbour.

If you would like to place an obituary notice or acknowledgment we will be pleased to assist you with the wording and placing of the notice on your behalf.

We are able to arrange printed personalised service sheets, books of remembrance, pew cards to record those people who have attended the service and other printing requirements on request.

Floral Tributes

Floral tributes are an important part of a funeral.

We are happy to recommend a local florist to you who will be pleased to help you choose from a wide variety of different styles, individual designs and seasonal flowers to suit your own personal taste.

Coffins and Caskets

We provide you with a wide choice of burial and cremation coffins, caskets and urns in our showroom at Spring Gardens.

We can also supply environmentally friendly coffins such as cardboard, wicker or bamboo.

All necessary staff will be provided as part of our service to you prior to the funeral.

On the day of the funeral sufficient bearers and attendants will be provided to assist with either cremation or burial depending on your choice of funeral .

Chapel of rest

The last time you saw your loved one may be a distressing memory, it can therefore ease the grief by seeing your loved one at peace and free from suffering. You can be assured that every possible care will be taken of your loved one whilst in our chapels where you are welcome to visit them and take as much time as you need to say your farewells. Your funeral director will discuss this with you at the time of making the arrangements.

Catering for receptions after a funeral

We can recommend various venues who are experienced in providing funeral buffets.

  • Local restaurants to acommodate large or small gatherings supplying hot meals.
  • Outside catering to host the funeral buffet at your home or in a church/village hall etc.

When Death Occurs...

At home

Contact your local GP who will come to certify the death. If he/she is satisfied that the Coroner need not be informed he/she will either give you the medical certificate of cause of death there and then or advise you where you can collect it. you need the certificate to register the death.

In Hospital or a Nursing/Residential Home

Contact the staff at the Hospital/Home and they should be able to advise you as to the availability of the medical certificate of cause of death and from where it can be obtained.

Registering a Death.

When you have obtained the medical certificate of cause of death you need to make an appointment at your local registry office of Births, Marriages and Deaths. If the death has been referred to the Coroner, the procedure is slightly different. We will advise you concerning this.
