The S Family

Dear Chris,

We would like to thank you for everything you have done for our family in the past week.

Before my father apssed away we decided that we would compare different funeral services. Fortunatly, we called Frank Painter and Son's first. The fact that we didn't call anywhere else after talking with you speaks volumes of the first impression you made on us.

The professionalism, humbleness and dignity you showed at all times and your personal approach to us as a family was very comforting. While you may feel that this is all part of your job, everything about your service was exactly how we would have wished it.

We know that in the past week we had many changes of heart regarding the arrangements for the funeral service. We were impressed that you remembered each detail and carried them out. You stood by us and were willing to allow us to give my father the tribute that would be so meaningful to all of us.

You seem to have a gift for understanding a family's wishes, which eased the passage through this most difficult time. Please accept our sincerest expression of gratitude and thanks. If you feel other families might find comfort in these words, please share them.

Very Sincerely,

The S family.

When Death Occurs...

At home

Contact your local GP who will come to certify the death. If he/she is satisfied that the Coroner need not be informed he/she will either give you the medical certificate of cause of death there and then or advise you where you can collect it. you need the certificate to register the death.

In Hospital or a Nursing/Residential Home

Contact the staff at the Hospital/Home and they should be able to advise you as to the availability of the medical certificate of cause of death and from where it can be obtained.

Registering a Death.

When you have obtained the medical certificate of cause of death you need to make an appointment at your local registry office of Births, Marriages and Deaths. If the death has been referred to the Coroner, the procedure is slightly different. We will advise you concerning this.
