M. B. and K. D.

Dear Chris,

Mum and I would like to say a big thank you for your kindness and understanding which helped us a great deal after losing dad.

We need'nt have worried about anything as everything was exactly as we wanted.

Tell Pete it was nice to chat about school days and football and it all makes arranging things much more relaxed and a lot easier to bear.

Many thanks,

M. B. and K. D.

When Death Occurs...

At home

Contact your local GP who will come to certify the death. If he/she is satisfied that the Coroner need not be informed he/she will either give you the medical certificate of cause of death there and then or advise you where you can collect it. you need the certificate to register the death.

In Hospital or a Nursing/Residential Home

Contact the staff at the Hospital/Home and they should be able to advise you as to the availability of the medical certificate of cause of death and from where it can be obtained.

Registering a Death.

When you have obtained the medical certificate of cause of death you need to make an appointment at your local registry office of Births, Marriages and Deaths. If the death has been referred to the Coroner, the procedure is slightly different. We will advise you concerning this.
